Can Miami Sound Choir perform at my event?

Absolutely! Miami Sound Choir is all about spreading joy through music. While we're not your typical performance choir, our focus is on community-building. If you'd like us to perform specific music of your choice, just keep in mind that it might take us about 2 months to make a new song performance-ready. We're here to create memorable musical moments together!

What should I expect at a Miami Sound Choir rehearsal as a newcomer?

Welcome to the joyful world of Miami Sound Choir rehearsals! As a newcomer, get ready for a fantastic journey. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect: First, there's the exciting quest for parking around the Arsht Center. After that, a friendly check-in with both Arsht Security and our amazing Miami Sound Choir staff.

We kick things off with a mindfulness moment, followed by a community check-in where we share how we're feeling and celebrate life's moments. Then, we dive into physical and vocal warm-ups to get those voices ready to make beautiful music. You'll join us in reviewing and learning songs, and of course, we build intentional community bonds along the way.

Our experienced members and conductor are there to guide you every step of the way. Plus, we always make time for sharing what's happening in and around Miami. It's a harmonious blend of music and connection.

When can I join the choir as a new member?

Join us at the start of our Fall Season (mid-August to mid-September) and our Spring Season in January. Registration closes after the first 4 rehearsals.

Are there any fees for joining the choir?

Our priority is inclusivity, ensuring that anyone who wants to sing with Miami Sound Choir can participate, regardless of financial circumstances. Our membership dues operate on a pay-as-you-can sliding scale, ranging from $0 to $500, giving you the flexibility to choose what fits your budget.

Where do rehearsals take place?

Our rehearsal spot is pretty fantastic! Miami Sound Choir is a Community Engagement Partner of the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts. They offer us a beautiful, artful, and central location to rehearse in exchange for our community performances. Our rehearsals take place in several rooms within the Arsht Center. To stay updated on our exact location each week, be sure to sign up for Remind messages. It's a delightful mix of art and community right in the heart of Miami!

Is there a sign-up process?

Yes! Head over to our Sign Up Page, complete the registration form, and choose a membership dues option that fits your budget. Don't forget to sign up for the Choir Portal, and most importantly, come to rehearsal and sing out! We're excited to welcome you into our community.

Are there any upcoming auditions?

No auditions are required! If you love to sing or want to sing, we welcome you with open arms. Come and sing out with us; that's all you need!

Can I sit in on a session before committing to joining?

Of course! If this is your first time with a choir and you'd like to get a taste of what we do, you're more than welcome to come and sit in before making a commitment. We recommend registering and contributing what you're comfortable with, even if it's $0 for now. If you discover the value in your experience with Miami Sound Choir and wish to contribute more later, we’d love that.

You mentioned no experience is necessary, but really, no experience at all?

Absolutely, really no experience is needed! Miami Sound Choir is a place for everyone, whether you've sung in choirs, on stages, in the shower, or only in your car, or perhaps you've never sung before. We're here to empower you to be courageous, even if you're nervous. You don't have to be 'good'—we want you to have fun and enjoy the joy of singing. 

What type of music does Miami Sound Choir sing?

Miami Sound Choir is a vibrant and diverse community, and our music reflects the rich cultural tapestry of Miami. We sing a variety of folk and popular songs from Haiti, Latin America, the Caribbean, Brazil, and more. Our repertoire also touches on themes that impact the people of Miami, including environmental awareness, love, choice, human rights, and tackling loneliness. Our repertoire aligns with the spirit of our incredible city!
